The introduction of water-saving technologies: the key to saving water and increasing productivity

    On November 5, 2021 there was organized the event under the leadership of the founder and designer of Agro Tomchi, Bakhtiyorjon Shokirov, the 4th course students of the Faculty of Irrigation and Drainage "Water Management and Land Reclamation" and "Innovative Technologies and their Use in Water Management". Sabirjan Isaev, Professor of the Department of “Irrigation and Melioration”, and Dilbar Abduraimova, Sanobar Dusnazarova, Ruslan Razzokov, trainers of the group conducted the lecture and training on current work.

   During the lecture, students were informed about the reforms carried out in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of water-saving technologies. In addition, the implementation of decrees of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan was presented in this area. It is clear that in on October25, 2019 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoev, there was adopted the Resolution PD-4499 "On measures to expand mechanisms to stimulate the introduction of water-saving technologies in agriculture". According to him: in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and in the regions in 2020, it is planned to introduce 43,825 ha, including 38,744 ha of drip irrigation, 1,520 ha of sprinkler irrigation and 3,560 ha of discrete (pulsar) irrigation systems.  324.8 billion soums have been allocated from the state budget for the implementation of these measures, of which 198.8 billion and 80 billion soums for cotton fields, gardens, greenhouses and other crops. 40 billion soums for vineyards of soums and 6 billion soums for dug vertical wells for growing fodder crops. 

    According to the decree, in 2020 the water-saving technologies will be applied on 49. 499 hectares or 113% of the planned area, including 43. 040 hectares (111%) with drip irrigation, 2210 hectares (145%) with rainfall and 4249 hectares (119 %) with discrete irrigation, a packaging system was introduced as well. Additionally, by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan there was adopted the Resolution PD-4919 dated December 11, 2020 "On measures to accelerate the introduction of water-saving technologies in agriculture".  

    The decree provides for a fivefold increase in the introduction of water-saving technologies in the country by 2020 to 230 thousand hectares, as well as laser leveling of 200 thousand hectares, including 43 thousand hectares of rice fields, of which, drip irrigation 160,000 hectares of cotton, 30,000 hectares of orchards, 15,000 hectares of vineyards and 5,000 hectares of other crops, irrigation of 14,000 hectares of grain, 2,000 hectares of vegetables and melons and 2,000 hectares of food crops.  It is planned to introduce discrete irrigation technologies for 600 hectares of cotton fields. The lecture was very interesting and supportive. The participants could get full of answers to their questions.
