ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON GEOINFORMATICS – GI 2020
“Supporting sustainable development by GIST”, October 3-5, 2020

The Annual International Scientific Conference on GeoInformatics – GI 2020 has opened registration for this conference scheduled for October 3-5 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The main objectives of this conference are orientate UZ scientists of Socio-Ecological Systems into interdisciplinary geospatial doctoral studies and research; and Improve involvement of UZ academic staff and doctoral candidates in geoinformation sciences into world-wide scientific community, strengthening internationalization of HEIs/RIs.
In 2020, GI is focused on the theme "Supporting sustainable development by GIST". Geographic Information Science as a conceptual foundation, Geoinformatics as the methodology and GIS as software technologies are powerful instruments for linking information across different sources by location. This is exactly what is needed to successfully manage our environments and natural resources, our economies and ultimately our societies.
Key themes (additional themes and sessions are welcome) of the conference are:
- GIS for regional Sustainable development
- Development of Spatial Data Infrastructure
- GIS for management in the field of environmental protection
- GIS for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations
- GIS for water resources management
- GIS in agriculture
- New trends and technologies in geodesy, cadastre and land management
- Professional and farther education in the field of geoinformatics
- GIS in Hydrotechnical Construction and Melioration
- GIS in Mechanization and Automatization of Agriculture and Water Resources.
GI 2020 is being organized by the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) within the Erasmus+ DSinGIS project, jointly with the following Project Partners:
- Supreme Attestation Commission at the Cabinet Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (SAC)
- Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan (MHSSE)
- State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Land Resources, Geodesy, Cartography and State Cadastre (YGK)
- Obuda University (OU), Hungary
- Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (PLUS), Austria
- Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO), Germany
- National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek (NUU), Uzbekistan
- Karakalpak State University named after Berdak (KSU), Uzbekistan
- Samarkand State Architecture and Civil Engineering Institute named after Mirzo Ulugbek (SamSACEI), Uzbekistan
- Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Costruction (TIAC), Uzbekistan
It will be conducted in conjunction with the International Conferences “InterCarto. InterGIS 26”. The GI conference series are managed by the Erasmus+ DSinGIS Project Partners. The conference looks forward to additional sponsorship from the Geoinformatics industry.
The conference committee accepts the scientific papers in English, Russian and Uzbek languages on the stated conference themes. Active participation in the conference is invited via presentation of a paper or poster, or through workshop attendance. Accepted and peer-reviewed best articles (only in English) published in the Proceedings of E3S Web of Conferences will be included in the Scopus international bibliographic and abstract database (https://www.e3s-conferences.org/). The rest of selected papers (in English, Russian and Uzbek) will be published in the Conference Proceedings.
Registrants are invited to submit a paper for consideration for poster or oral presentation. The Scientific Committee will select paper submissions from the conference registrants as the oral presentations at the meeting.
We request to disseminate this CFP to all interested GIS educators, researchers, administrators and professionals. Acceptance of articles is carried out until July 1, 2020 and it will not be extended. No more than two articles are accepted from one author. All information about GI 2020 registration, a preliminary agenda and visa application procedures are available on the conference website http://geo.amk.uni-obuda.hu/gi2020/.
PAPER SUBMISSION
- Please read first the detailed Publication ETHICS. (Elsevier recommendations and COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors). Submitted articles will be checked in a plagiarism tool and that any ethical misconduct will be considered very seriously.
Please use the IMRAD model for structuring your work. The following parts of the article are mandatory:
Title
It must include no more than seven words (excluding prepositions, conjunctions and articles).
The title should not contain verbs.
The title should not include such words as analysis, research, study, to the question, new, problems, questions, some, features, special, from the point of view, application, search, definition, modern, current, solution, best, most / least profitable, optimum, most etc.
Abstract
The abstract should be the presentation of the article without itself.
Abstract should have the same structure as the article and include problem urgency; purpose; methods; results; conclusions.
Abstract should be of 200-250 words.
Keywords
From 5 to 10 words or word combinations.
Introduction
This part should include the objectives of the work and its background. It should be based on the literature review. In the literature review you should show the competence in your area and its main authors and works. In the same time, you should not cite all possible references but only those that are strictly connected with your topic. The recommended quantity of references is 5-10.
Methods
This part should provide details of the experimental setup and the methods used for obtaining the results.
Results
This part should clearly and concisely present the data using figures and tables where appropriate.
Discussion
This part should describe the relationships and generalizations shown by the results and discuss the significance of the results making comparisons with previously published work.
Conclusions
Here the list of main conclusions is given. It should not repeat the results, but the generalization is intended.

The personal acknowledgements and also the information about funding is given here.
References
It is important to remember that the list of references is one of the most important parts of the article. You should show the competence in your area and its main authors and works. In the same time, you should not cite all possible references but only those that are strictly connected with your topic.
The recommended quantity of references is 20.
The cited papers should be relatively recent, actual and open access. Scientific publications included in the Scopus or Web of Science database should form the main part of the list of references.
Reference lists are checked for accuracy. References can only be linked via Crossref if they are correct and complete.
