The creation of soil maps

Definitely, soil mapping is a form of highly advanced thematic mapping as it is very important in agriculture and scientific research. On October 28, 2021 at the Faculty of Geodesy and Geoinformatics, the associate Professor O. Rozikulova organized the event with the participation of students, where there was provided to the students the extensive and detailed information on methods of mapping soil and its properties, as well as methods of field research.

These include: the role of the parent rock in soil formation; Zonal distribution of soils in Uzbekistan and the world; high-altitude zoning of soils; Measures to prevent the spread of salt marshes in the Aral Sea and its surroundings; determination of the value of land credits; They shared their experience in protecting soil types in the desert, mountains and foothill regions of our country.
Mapping methods are systematized according to the idea of V.V. Dokuchaev (1903) and it was cdeveloped on the basis of genetic classification of soils. Soil scientists consider soil as a natural-historical object and it is studied as an object of production. Soil cover studies provide important information for solving economic problems and taking practical measures. In connection with the rapid development of agriculture, one of the most important tasks today is accounting  the amount of land resources, assessing the quality of land. These tasks are solved at the state level or with ground maps of different scales for a particular economy. The soil develops on bedrocks and in the process of soil formation on the basis of climatic and biological factors. The values of each soil layer change with depth. As a result, soils are divided into types and varieties, and they have their own genetic characteristics. The results of the studies and full Information about the research was provided by soil scientists: A. Kovda, S. Abdullaev, R. Koziev, O. Akhmedov and others.

The primary and secondary causes of soil salinization, which are common in our country, were also discussed during the event. A soil cover is a collection of soils, scattered over an area. At the end of the open lesson, students received answers to their questions. In particular, they received information about the work, carried out in the "key areas" of field research, methods of compiling soil maps, their inclusion in the database of cartographic changes in the country's soils, agrotechnical and reclamation work to increase yields and compilation and use of digital soil maps.
