BioEcUz: Latvia, Lithuania and Finland : there was held a joint conference on bioeconomics
The first international conference on bioeconomics in Uzbekistan was organized in cooperation with the Jyväsklul University of Applied Sciences, Finland, the Latvian University of Natural Sciences and Technology, Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania and Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers. The conference was also attended by employees and representatives of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction, the Ministry of Innovative Development and the Fishing Industry Association.
The goal of the BioEcUz project is to create a curriculum that will integrate and demonstrate the best international practices in the field of bioeconomy development, which will stimulate the stakeholders of Uzbekistan to modernize the national economy, where a paradigm shift from low efficiency, irrational use of resources and cheap labor to the transition will occur in the bioeconomy, where knowledge and innovation are applied and more professional jobs are created.
The conference was held within the framework of the Erasmus + project "BioEcUz: training masters in bioeconomics in Uzbekistan". The conference was opened by the Rector of the University of Natural Sciences and Technology of Latvia, Irina Pilvere. Finnish expert Minna Lappalainen then presented an agribusiness model that develops bioeconomy and trade skills in higher education. The next meeting was chaired by a Latvian expert on the topic “Bioeconomic Network: Challenges, Opportunities and Research”.
