A Joint Research Center (JRC) for Geoinformatics has been established at TIIAME

TIIAME and Obuda University of Hungary signed an agreement on a joint undergraduate program in Geodesy and Geoinformatics as well as the official opening ceremony of the Joint Research Center for Geoinformatics, organized in the framework of the projects Erasmus + "DSinGIS: Doctoral Studies in Geoinformation Sciences " and "NICoPA: New and Innovative Courses for Precision Agriculture" was held at TIIAME.

The official opening of the center was attended by the rector of Obuda University, Professor L. Kovacs, representatives of the State Unitary Enterprise "Geoinnovation Center", the Suppreme Attestation Commission and representatives from Higher Education Institutions of the country. They got acquainted with the "Joint Research Center for Geoinformatics" and the conditions created in the centre. Besides that, participants of the event  listened to the presentation by the National Coordinator of the Erasmus + DSinGIS and NICoPA projects I.Abdurahmanov about  joint projects and the results achieved within grants with partners.

The center includes GIS research and e-learning rooms, Database center established within the DSinGIS  Project, Precision Agriculture Service Office (PASO) and Virtual Classroom (VCR) established within the NICoPA project, Geoinformatics laboratory established within the Tempus GE-UZ project. It is worth mentioning that  equipment worth 145,000 euros was purchased for the center at the expense of the DSinGIS project, and 32,000 euros at the expense of the NICoPA project.

The main task of the Joint Research Center for Geoinformatics is to conduct research based on applications and innovative methods that help to make decisions to address the problems of agriculture and water management, the environment through the use of Geoinformatics in the analysis and monitoring of the state of agriculture and water resources management. Moreover, conducting various trainings for employees in agriculture and water management, land management, cadastre on the implementation of geoinformatics and remote sensing in the field, improving the skills of professors and teachers, teaching undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students are also the main objectives of the center.
