Every year on March 22, TIIAME hosts events dedicated to World Water Day. On this day, various competitions and meetings organized with famous people. This year, due to the pandemic, the event held online. The proposal to establish this international day announced in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. The General Assembly adopted resolution A / RES / 47/193 of 22 February 1993, which declared 22 March each year World Water Day.
The UN is highlighting the key role of water and sanitation in poverty alleviation, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. The main purpose of the World Water Day is to promote the adoption of appropriate measures to solve the problem of supplying the population with drinking water, to inform the public about the importance of protecting and conserving fresh water resources and water resources in general. Every year, World Water Day is celebrated under a specific motto. In 2017 - under the motto "Wastewater", in 2018 - "Nature and water", in 2019 - under the motto "The water problem is a problem of society: its solution should not remain out of sight", in 2020 - under the motto "Water and Climate Change".
The competition for students of higher educational institutions of the republic, held in 2020 under the motto "Water and Climate Change".The competition was organized by TIIAME in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program. In this regard, an online event held on August 25 at 11:00.
The winners awarded the competition. The event was opened by the rector of TIIAME, chairman of the Republican Council of Higher Education, Professor Umurzakov Uktam Pardaevich. The rector noted that ensuring the rational management and efficient use of water resources has become one of the key issues of sustainable economic development in all regions and countries of the world, which, along with the growing demand for water resources, is also increasing the shortage of water from year to year.
On March 13-18,2020, among students of higher educational institutions of the country held competitions and discussions on the role of youth in the rational and efficient use of water, water resources management and sustainable development of the country.
March 13 was held:
- Exhibition of posters "Water is life!";
- Discussions on the topic "Impact of climate change on water resources management in Uzbekistan".
March 16:
-Intelligent game "Innovative ways of using water resources in the face of climate change";
March 17
- Competition of video films "Water and Climate";
18th of March
- Competition for the best innovative technologies in the field of agriculture;
- Seminar "Water and Climate Change".
In addition to TIIAME, in the event attended students of the Navoi State Mining Institute, Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, Samarkand State Architectural and Construction Institute, Namangan Engineering and Economic Institute, Turin Polytechnic Institute in Tashkent, Kazan Federal University, Karshi and Bukhara branches of TIIAME, and students of school № 23 of Tashkent city. At the end of the event, the winners of the competition awarded. They received valuable gifts from the organizers.
