The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) has extensive contacts with leading foreign universities both on the basis of bilateral agreements and through active participation in the Global Confederation of Associations of Higher Educational Institutions in Agricultural and Natural Sciences (GCHERA) since its inception in 1999 of the year.
In 2010, at the initiative of TIIAME and with the support of the Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR), the Consultative Group for International agricultural research in Central Asia and the South Caucasus, the Program Implementation Division (CGIAR - CAC), and the International Center for agricultural research in Arid Areas for Central Asia and the South Caucasus (ICARDA - САС), Wageningen University (Netherlands) and the Association of agricultural research organizations of Central Asia and the South Caucasus (CA CAARI) a constituent meeting of agricultural universities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was held to create a Consortium of Agricultural Universities of Central Asia and the South Caucasus for Development (CASCADE) on the basis of TIIAME in Tashkent.
The recently approved Strategy for the Development of Agriculture of Uzbekistan for the period 2020-2030 and the meeting held by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on September 6, 2019, on priority tasks for the development of agriculture, highlighted the urgent issues of introducing digital technologies into agricultural production, carrying out space sensing work, for reliable assessment of the real state of land, sown areas and forests.
TIIAME the first university in Uzbekistan introduced subjects on GIS technology and remote sensing of agricultural land and crops into the educational process on the basis of a joint EcoGIS center and in collaboration with Wageningen University and the ArcGIS program complex developed by ESRI and ERDAS Imagine developed by Leica Geosystems. In the current 2019, TIIAME conducted active negotiations with the Chinese company SuperMap Software *, which developed a new and one of the leading software platforms for GIS technologies, with a view to concluding a cooperation agreement on training, advanced training of specialists and widespread use of this program in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
October 31 this year in Beijing, SuperMap International organized the International Forum as part of the International GIS Software Conference and Technology Conference (GTC 2019 - GIS Software Technology Conference), held in conjunction with the China Association of Geographic Information Society and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. On this day, a cooperation agreement was signed between TIIAME Rector, Professor Utkir Pardaevich Umurzakov, CASCADE Executive Secretary, Professor Alim Salimovich Pulatov and SuperMap Software Company Vice President Ms. Du Ginge in Beijing. The signing of a cooperation agreement will allow TIIAME and CASCADE to become the first licensed users of the SuperMap program in the Republic of Uzbekistan and Central Asia and begin to conduct subjects on the basis of this platform for masters and doctoral students, as well as advanced training for specialists of ministries and departments.
