Pray for Australia
Of all the events that are happening around the world, the most horrible and sadest are the fires in Australia. On social media, the hashtag #PrayForAustralia is full of sympathy. Someone knows about it, some have heard it and some have not. So I decided to partially cover the catastrophe that has been going on for these three months, because this fact should be a powerful “bang” for all of us, and we need to understand how real climate change is. The scale of the fire that is still ongoing on the Australian continent is so large that it equals to a single Manhattan state - 59.1 sq. km. As a result, the temperature in the Australian capital Canberra rose to 44 C, breaking the 80-year record.
Although firefighters and a team of volunteers are trying to put out the fire at their own risk, so far the fire has killed nearly half a billion (480 million) animals and 8 human beings, what is more, these numbers are rising every day.
A person named Bodie Ashton has been providing accurate daily information on Twitter to better cover the horrors of this disaster. It starts with data on fire victims and its scale:
He then switched to the Australian government's unwillingness to discuss such an issue. Bodie explains how serious it is in the following post:
The state of Victoria declared an emergency for the most dangerous areas and evacuated residents. The satellite images below show smoke spreads from fires in Victoria and New South Wales, which is equivalent to New Zealand area. A few days ago, a photo from the space shows that some areas in Australia were red by fires all day, and that would not end soon:
Here I would like to say one more thing about the topic. At the same time, many countries are trying to help Australia. My classmate from Mongolia recently shared an article with me. It explained that Mangolia provided $ 45,000 to Australia. At first glance you could say that $ 45,000 is not so big for a whole country. But for a country with a poor economy like Mangolia, where people live in poverty, this is the real courage. I'm not saying we have to help, but it would be great if we could help. And as an environmentalist who is indifferent to climate change and nature, I would ask you to pray for Australia. God has power over all things.
