Great figures of Uzbek culture and art

The distance between them is five hundred years. This distance is linked to the dates of two great figures of Uzbek culture and art - Hazrat Alisher Navoi and the People's Poet of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov. This is reflected in special Presidential Resolutions on the occasion of the 580th anniversary of Hazrat Navoi and 80th anniversary of Abdulla Aripov, which are being widely marked during these days. Today, February 9, all organizations and higher education institutions took part in a big event dedicated to the birthday of Alisher Navoi. The event was held in front of the monument of Alisher Navoi - poet, thinker and statesman. Along with all higher education institutions the academic staff and students of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Mechanization of Agriculture: Deputy Dean on Youth Affairs of the Land Management Faculty H. Eshova, students and staff of the faculty, library staff, tutors-teachers of student dormitories under the guidance of Vice Rector on Youth Affairs R. Choriyev laid flowers at the foot of the monument to Hazrat Alisher Navoi.

At the event, the poet's wife and daughter spoke about Abdulla Aripov's life and work and recited several of his poems. Sharifa Salimova, Farogat Khudoykulova, Botir Ergashev, Amirkul Karimov, members of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, and well-known journalists Ahmad Nur, People's Artist Turgun Azizov, honoured artists Rano Yarasheva, Mehriddin Rakhmatov, Lola Eltoeva and Professor Jamila Shermukhamedova also attended the event and shared their memories of the great poet.
