Bioeconomics is a new sector for Central Asian countries and has been used in Europe and the United States since the recent past. Bioeconomics is the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources and wastes into value-added such as food, feed, biological products, and bioenergy. The project is for 3 years and is part of the Erasmus + capacity building program. The aim of the project is to introduce a master's program in bioeconomics at partner universities in Uzbekistan.

Rector of the University of Life Sciences and Technology of Latvia Irina Pilvere, Irina Kulitane, Kirsi Knuuttila from the University of Juviskale, Vilia Aleknevich from the University of Vytautas Magnus in Lithuania, Sandia Zeverte-Rivza, Ulugbek Khadiev from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education Husniddin Mardonov from the Ministry of Agriculture, Sherzod Rakhmonov from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, Sanjar Adilov from the Tashkent State Agrarian University, Abror Juraev from the Bukhara State University, Mirzoxid Yuldashev from the Uzbek Agro-Information and Innovation Center held an online meeting. 

The meeting was opened by Rector of the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technology Irina Pilvere, who wished success in the project. Irina Kulitane gave the floor to ministry officials. A spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture said that the bioeconomy would play an important role in bringing the agricultural sector to a new level. It was noted that in the transformation of agriculture, it is important to train modern-minded professionals, and this process will be supported by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education. The tasks to be performed during the project and the next meeting were agreed upon.
