Bukhara branch of Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers celebrates its 10th anniversary!
Bukhara branch of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers was founded in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 182 dated 20.08.2010 considering the increasing demand for land reclamation and specific features of the state of mineralization and salinity of agricultural land in individual regions, as well as with the purpose of training highly qualified specialists in this important area of the country's economy. The branch offers an undergraduate bachelors in three areas of education: "Water management and reclamation", "Mechanization of water management and reclamation work" and "Land management and land cadastre".
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No.UP-5418 dated April 17, 2018 "On measures to radically improve the system of state management of agriculture and water management", Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers and Bukhara branch of TIIAME was removed from the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources and transferred to the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Thereafter, the organizational structure of the institute has been functioning in an administrative manner, in accordance with clause 7 of this Decree within the framework of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic. In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-3702 dated May 8, 2018 "On measures to radically improve the system of training personnel with higher education at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, jointly with Bukhara branch and academic lyceums, was transferred to the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education. The organizational structure of the branch was re-approved, which gave a powerful boost to the development of the industry.
In the academic year 2019-2020, the number of bachelor's program increased by 13, and the number of master's specialties - by 6. It is noteworthy that over 10 years of work the branch has seen a steady growth in the number of specialists and students. If we analyze the last three years, then the total number of students in 2016-2017 was 1110, and in 2019-2020 became 2000. 19 students of the branch are studying in Turkmenistan on the basis of a state grant. It is planned to increase the number of students to 1050 in this academic year. There is a need to improve the qualifications of the teaching staff. Over the past periods, their number has grown from 19 to 160 people.
In terms of scientific capacity in 2017-2020 7 teachers successfully defended dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and 3 for the degree of Doctor of Science (DSc). Over the past three years, 15 textbooks, 49 teaching manuals and 45 monographs have been published, patents for 14 inventions and 25 copyright certificates have been received.
Three talented students were awarded the President's scholarship, six - Beruni State scholarship, and two of them - Islam Karimov State scholarships, one won the competition "Student of the Year". The number of participants in Olympiads, winners of various exhibitions and competitions has reached 51. According to the "teacher-student" system students are assigned to the leading specialists of manufacturing enterprises where the takes place practical training.
The branch has developed a fruitful cooperative relationship with foreign universities. Close cooperation has been established with 14 foreign universities in the field of academic exchange and teaching, methodology and research. These include North Dakota State University and Washington University in the United States, Halle Vetenberg University in Germany, K.A. Timiryazov State Agrarian University in Russian Federation, University of Zagreb in Croatia, Gradignan Bordeaux in France: University of Agronomy and Agricultural Sciences AGROSUB Borde, Holon Institute of Technology in Israel.
Based on the results of negotiations and competitions, Bukhara branch of TIIAME has accepted a grant in the amount of 40 thousand US dollars to coordinate research in the field of agriculture.
As a result of these efforts, more than 1,500 young graduates are working in positions of responsibility in various socio-economic sectors of the country and the region.
