"Digital Cluster for Sustainable Management of Natural Resources"

Continuous research and actions provide development and prosperity of the country. There are two wings for this: leadership and management skills. With the support of AKFA Group company, "Digital Cluster for Sustainable  Management of Natural Resources" was organized in Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers.

The event was opened by the rector of the institute, Professor Oktam Umurzakov, then he gave the floor to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shukhrat Ganiev. They commented on the important aspects of agricultural development, based on the President's Address. The event was also attended by the Minister of Water Resources, Shavkat Khamrayev, Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education Inomjon Majidov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AKFA Group, Abror Ganiev and other influential leaders.

The purpose of the cluster are the studies on monitoring of situational processes in agriculture, water and forestry, land use, geodesy and cartography, ecology and environmental protection, assessment of climate change using modern remote sensing methods and geographic information systems.

In particular, since 2003, Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers in cooperation with Vaginengin University in Netherlands has a bilateral master's degree diploma in Environmental Protection (Geo-Information Systems) and Environmental Protection (International Land and Water Management). 50 graduate students have studied in the joint master's program to this date. Fifteen graduates has earned a degree of "magister" from Vaginengin and Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers.

In addition, the dissertations of 8 masters under the guidance of professors of Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers and Vaginengin University conducted research on "Problems of environmental protection and geographic information systems in Uzbekistan" and received diplomas of Vaginengin University. Thirty-four students from Vaginengin University conducted their respective internships and dissertation research on the basis of TIIAME.

In general, foreign universities: Vaginengin University (Netherlands), University of Bonn (Germany), with Weinstein University (Germany)  194 masters, including 92 masters in "Environmental Protection" (Agriculture and Water Management) have been trained. Currently, graduate students conduct research at leading universities in Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Slovakia, Japan, Italy and Austria. Scientists at Vaginengin University and TIIAME have jointly developed a new methodology for estimating salinity and soil degradation based on plant indices. For the first time in the world, in the case of Syrdarya region, soil salinity was used to estimate the method of space thermography of plants. Nowadays, in Australia research is being carried out using this method in the cultivation of cotton and legumes based on the interests of Australian scientists.
