An integral part of the Navruz holiday is the national Soumalak festivities. Sumalak is the royal dish of Nowruz, a healthy, nutritious and delicious dish.
The history of sumalak, which has always been prepared and is prepared in spring at the beginning of Nowruz, dates back more than 3,000 years. In the historical and literary sources of Amir Temur's era it is also noted that the traditions associated with the holiday of sumalak are one of the components of the holiday of Nowruz. Such festivals were held in steppes, gardens, large city squares, registans, markets, holy places and mahallas, and lasted from one week to one month. National values and traditions like the Sumalak festival, which has reached us through the centuries, are inseparable from the ancient history and spirituality of our people.
