Through Transform, innovative ideas will be translated into real development solutions that will address development challenges and empower the communities and youth in particular to realize their full potential.
Linked to the Engage hub, Transform will accelerate science, technology and innovation led solutions that drive economic and social progress in the developing world.

IsDB launched the 2nd Call for Innovation under Transform Fund on April 1 2019. The call is open to scientists and innovators, startups, SMEs, public & private institutions in IsDB Member and non-member countries. The call is designed to support ideas which need initial funding or capital to develop their innovative ideas into development solutions and expand the commercial reach of innovative projects. Transform fund will also supportcapacity building efforts of MCs, especially LDMCs, in strengthening their national STI ecosystem.
The proposal are invited for ideas/projects that will result in technologies and solutions and contribute to the development effectiveness of IsDB Member Countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries by addressing the challenges related to one of the following SDGs: SDG2: No Hunger (food security), SDG3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG4 Quality Education, SDG6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG7: Affordable & Clean Energy, SDG9:Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria under one of the following four categories must apply to the STI Transform Fund by completing the online application form available at the IDB portal "Engage” (accessible through the link: https://www.isdb-engage.org/en/challenge/call-for-innovation-via-transform-fund-2019
Category 1:New Ideas with Proof of Concept, Funding Opportunity: Grants ranging from US$ 50,000-100,000
Category 2:Scaling up of Innovative Projects, Funding Opportunity: Equity Participation up to US$ 300,000
Category 3:Commercialization of Technology Funding Opportunity: Equity Participation up to US$ 1,000,000
Category 4:Capacity Building in Science, Technology and Innovation, Funding Opportunity: Grants ranging from US$ 100,000-150,000
The second Call for Innovation under the Transform Fund comes after the successful implementation of the first call, which resulted in the selection of 32 best innovative ideas and projects (The Transformers) out of 1,570 submitted proposals from more than 80 countries around the world. The winning portfolio consisted of 13 equity investment proposals (for startups and Small Enterprises) and 19 grants (new ideas with proof of concept and institutional capacity building in STI).
